Tour of the Ashevillage Institute Demonstration Site Part 3
If we need the extra storm water for our system we can open the cleanout at the end of the pipe and let the water through. A slide valve would be more appropriate for this purpose but also more expensive.
The Ashevillage Institute (AVI) is an eco-urban education center and living laboratory for sustainable solutions in action.
AVI is located in a neighborhood a few blocks from downtown Asheville, North Carolina.
AVI promotes urban sustainability through:
• An eco-urban demonstration center in downtown Asheville, NC
• Hands-on educational opportunities, workshops & events
• A network of national instructors
• Community organizing & advocacy
Brandy Hall is the Site Manager and Program Coordinator for the Ashevillage Institute. She holds a Master's in Contemplative Education and brings forth a passion for Permaculture as a tool for planetary healing in this time of global transition, beginning with ourselves. She has lived and taught on farms from Virginia to Nicaragua, and has been deepening her connection to the Earth through farming, building, designing, and educating since 2004. In addition to her work with the Ashevillage Institute, she runs a small design/build/education firm, Shades of Green, Inc., in Asheville, NC.
